Google Organic Click Through Rate Research
The SEO team at Mindshare recently noticed a shortage of robust natural search marketing data. To remedy this, we have been working with Nielsen on an industry first research project.
Our research focuses on understanding the organic search audience and their behaviours aiming to gain an insight into the use of search engines. To achieve this goal we analysed the click-through behaviour of natural search results on google.co.uk - the UK's market leader. During research we looked at:
- The use of Google and its search verticals
- Search engine user search habits
- The click-through rate for natural search and how this varies according to the vertical

Definitions:
- Total click-throughs- Number of times a search result has been clicked on to reach a destination site
Nielsen UKOM Panel - Nielsen UKOM panel monitors activity representative internet users at home and work in the UK. Software installed on panellists' PCs that passively collects all online behaviour - URLs visited, desktop application usage as well as search behaviour
